Exhibition: "The way we were"

A photographic journey back in time. These photographs document the wholesale demolition of Glasgow’s slum tenements to be replaced by multistory boxes in the sky and peripheral housing schemes remote from the city centre. A time which saw the decline of the traditional industries of heavy engineering, shipbuilding and steelworks which had made Glasgow the second city of the empire. Maryhill Museum - Get Involved!

Would you like to hear more about plans for Maryhill Museum?

Come along to our first meeting and see what's happening behind the scenes. You'll get to see plans for the museum, have your say and see how you can get involved. You'll even get a chance to get hands on with some artefacts and help us research our own wee part of Glasgow.

We would particularly welcome residents from the area, those who have lived here for a number of years but have since moved away and those who worked in the area's heavy industry. Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust are working to safeguard our shared history and we cant have a community museum without the community so come along and have your say!

This event is free but we do ask you to register here.

Light refreshments will be served.

Local Heritage Workshop with SCHA

If you're interested and involved with heritage in your local community, then join us for this event at the Halls by The Scottish Community Heritage Alliance, as part of a community heritage research workshop series around Scotland. We will be talking about networks, sharing ideas about how a new national network might look, and what it could do for community heritage.

The day will be informal, and follow a simple format with an opening speaker followed by discussion workshops. The event is free but requires sign-up here.

This event is sponsored by the Royal Society of Edinburgh and is hosted by The University of St. Andrews, the National Library of Scotland, and Ergadia Heritage.
