Welcome Volunteers (Accepting Applications)
We are currently recruiting Front of House / Welcome Volunteers to support our building and exhibition programme. By joining us, you’ll become part of a heritage community space, uncover the hidden histories of Maryhill, and gain valuable new skills. Maryhill Burgh Halls is a historic heritage site, exhibition space, and multipurpose venue in northwest Glasgow, and our volunteers play a vital role in helping us bring it to life and provide opportunities for Maryhill’s residents.
About the role
Our Front of House team is at the heart of everything we do. As a volunteer, you will be one of the first points of contact for visitors, helping to create a warm, friendly, and informative experience for everyone who walks through our doors.
Typical tasks include:
Welcoming visitors to the Halls and exhibitions
Providing information about events, activities, and the history of the building
Supporting general administrative tasks
Answering phone enquiries
Helping to support the gift shop
Assisting attendees with accessibility or general enquiries where appropriate
Gathering feedback from attendees about events and experiences
Optional contribution to blog post with independent research
Occasional research support and help for exhibitions development
We’re looking for friendly, reliable individuals who enjoy working with people and are interested in local history and community engagement. Our volunteers receive a full induction and will have consistent support from fellow volunteers and the volunteer coordinator. Once you have completed this form, we will be in touch to arrange a short informal chat about your availability and goals volunteering with us and how we can make volunteering accessible to you.
Our volunteer shifts are typically weekly, either a half or full day during our opening hours (9:30am-5pm). Our goal is to open on the weekends within the next few weeks, so if you are interested in joining the waiting list for weekend volunteers, don’t hesitate to apply!
Community Gardeners (Accepting Applications)
Help the Burgh Halls bloom by adopting one of our community planters. We will provide seeds and tools, all you need to do is show up and plant! We welcome both experienced and beginner gardeners, and if you are interested in collaborating with friends or other volunteers, you are more than welcome to do so.
