A visual stroll through maryhill
Snapshots from the Maryhill Burgh Halls Collection
12th September - 17th December
This exhibition brings together a small selection of photographs from the Maryhill Burgh Halls collection. Taken by different photographers including David Holgate, Ronald McIvor and Jos Treen, the images capture local streets, landmarks, and landscapes, showing how the area has changed and how much has stayed familiar over the years.
Alongside the photographs, a small collection of objects from the Burgh Halls archive will also be on display, offering another small glimpse into Maryhill’s past. In addition, George Ward’s cinefilm footage is back on rotation, bringing moving images of the area’s history to life once again.
Each photograph preserves a fragment of Maryhill’s story. Some show places we still walk past today, while others record buildings and views long gone. Seen together, they form a patchwork of memories that helps us understand the character of the area across time.
Our collection is always growing. Many of the photographs, stories, and objects we hold have been generously shared by local people, and they help us tell a richer story of Maryhill’s past. This display highlights some of what we have and hints at how much more history there is still to uncover.
