MaryHill Stories

Community Day - 19th November 2022

As part of Scotland’s Year of Stories, Maryhill Burgh Halls has brought together the Maryhill community, with a series of storytelling workshops exploring the heritage, story and life of Maryhill through personal stories and experiences.

On Saturday 19th November, the Halls welcomed everyone to a gala day. With dances every hour between 12pm and 2pm along with other fun activities, we built up to the final storytelling session at 3pm.

Alongside accordionist Neil Sutcliffe, Storyteller Shona Cowie from Village Storytelling has been working with locals from every age and walk of life, to inform her final performance. Shona brought our very own Mary Hill to life through her legacy, people’s perception of her, and by reflecting on what Maryhill was and is, for the local community.

These events have been supported by the Year of Stories 2022 Community Stories Fund. This fund is being delivered in partnership between VisitScotland and Museums Galleries Scotland with support from National Lottery Heritage Fund thanks to National Lottery players.
